Hey, I’m Elise Martin.
(she/her)
I am a licensed master social worker. I am passionate about helping clients change their relationship to their bodies and the foods they eat, so they can live a life free from diet culture, internalized fatphobia, and shame.
My practice is built on the foundations of fat liberation and body neutrality. I use an intersectional and trauma-informed lens to help clients increase self-acceptance and care for themselves without judgement. Additional areas of focus include anxiety, depression, burnout and work stress, self-esteem, trauma, identity, and relationships.
My goal is to support a client’s understand of where their beliefs, emotions, and behaviors come from. In doing so, they can feel more empowered to create their own expectations and goals for their lives. The intention of this work is to build a better future for ourselves and our communities.
I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from the University at Albany. In addition to clinical work, I also have experience in disability advocacy, community organizing, and housing equity.
When not at work, you will most often find me cooking something delicious while listening to a pop culture podcast.
How It Works
I see clients both in-person and via telehealth. Telehealth clients must be physically located in New York at the time of service. I accept CDPHP insurance. As well, I offer a sliding scale to those who need to pay out of pocket. I am an LMSW practicing under the supervision of Brianna Clark, LCSW.
